Brief Description: Cockpit rails / seat back support / tailwheel moun
Only did three and a half hours work today, but I guess it was reasonably productive. First thing I did was clamp and drill the cockpit rails to the F-887 upper longerons and the center section bulkheads.
I fitted the WD-808 front seat back support but found the cutouts in the cockpit rails were too narrow. I removed the WD-808, filed the cutouts a little and in went back in a lot better. I match drilled the WD-808 to the cockpit rails and the support plates. I found that the aft most hole for the AN509 screw on each side has practicallly no edge distance at all throughthe cockpit rail or the spacer underneath it. Everything is aligned properly, so it can't actually be any other way, but nonetheless I'll need to check that out. I'll do a forum search and check with Vans on that.
Next I match drilled the 804N bulkheads caps and removed them, which was handy because it freed up some clecos for the aft deck section. I got as far as fitting the tailwheel mount weldment to the 811 and 812 bulkheads when my brother arrived and that was pretty much the end of the day right there. I did nip out later and mark up the F-828 aft bottom skin for the tailwheel cutout, though, and I'll maybe do that tomorrow night.
