Brief Description:  Drilling fwd fuselage skins

Wow; thanks to the cold, dark nights and lack of enthusiasm its been six days since I last worked on the plane! Tonight I cleco'd the center section caps and the cockpit rails. Positioned the F-887 upper longeron and clamped in place. Unfortunately, I don't have enough clamps to fully clamp both longerons at the same time, so the right-side isn't as tight. As soon as I liberate some clamps on this side I'll sort that out. I also have a shortage of clecos, as ever.

Things were going well with drilling first the lower longeron to the F-820-L front skin, followed by the mid- or auxilliary longeron, and finally the top longeron. Part way through drilling the #40 holes in the top longeron there was a loud bang followed by a big hiss and a complete loss of air pressure. Oh great: I've blown the compressor, I thought. It was working pretty darn hard with all that drilling. Luckily, it had just thrown a hose and after tightening down I was back in the game and finished the upper longeron. Called it quits there, partly 'cos our dinner arrived (Indian: butter chicken and tandoori prawns; yummy!)

I also noticed, before and after the bang, a *lot* of water coming through the hose and venting out of the drill. Before I use the compressor again I think I should get it out of the box and give it a good clean, drain and service.
