This will be my last log entry for a week or so: I'm going down to Picton in the South Island to get my Tandem skydive rating, leaving very early tomorrow morning. I was hoping to get the whole gear tower/fwd floor section done today but it was raining all day and the primer has taken ages to dry. I also have to take my Mum & Nan to the airport (3½ hrs round trip by car) because they are heading to England for a few weeks. End result: I've simply run out of time to get things rivetted together. Never mind.
So today, I got the gear tower cross braces, mid- cabin braces and throttle quadrant primered and once it had dry sufficientlt I fitted all the nutplates and cleco'd all the parts back onto the gear tower/fwd floor structure. Following which, I realised that I had forgotton to do the radius'd washers that go on the insides of the fwd and aft angles. I did those but had to rattle can them since I forgot to do them before spraying the DP40 primer on the other bits. Hence why they're green and not grey. Annoying: I like uniformity. But never mind (again!). Like I said, I've run out of time to rivet these bits on, so that will have to wait until I get back from Picton. No bother, an hour or so of work and I'll be able to move on to the forward fuselage structure. Exciting or what?! :-)
