Tonight I drilled the wing tip and reinforcing strip for the #6 nutplates. This was a two step process since I don't have a nutplate drillign jig the correct size. First I drilled for nutplates using the #4 nutplate jig that I do have, then I re-fitted the wing tip (still with reinforcing strips) to the wing and opened out the screw holes to #27 for the #6 screws. Jackie then gave me a hand by deburring and prepping the two strips for primer while I worked on the wing tip trailing edge. I mixed up a resin/flox mix and jammed it into the inside trailing edge of the wing tip. This will provide some extra reinforcement after I trimmed roughly 1/4" off the trailing edge yesterday. This will get left to set overnight (the wing tip is standing upright on it's trailing edge). I have yet to fill the void on the outside trailing edge (see yesterday's photos). Not sure whether to use resin/filler mix or resin/flox. I suspect the filler mix would be easier to work after it has cured...
