Brief Description:  Left flap - spacers

This is an example of how not doing something at the right time can cost a lot of extra time later on. I did (or didn't do) two things that cost me a lot of extra time. The first thing I didn't do was drill the holes holding the flanges of the ribs to the spars to #30 for the correct size rivets. The second thing I didn't do was the spacers between the end ribs and the top skin under the flap where the two skins overlap (not that the RV-8 instructions or plans mention it anywhere; I got this from Phil's RV-7 flap drawing). Of course, I had taken the skins over to Phil's today to dimple them, so I could just re-assemble everything and drill. No, I had to first deburr and dimple all the ribs, finish dimpling the skins around the edges and also dimple and countersink the front spar!! As a result, what should have been a simple couple of jobs took me two hours!! At least it is done now. I have just the three bottom holes on the top skin to dimple when I disassemble again, and then everything can be edge-finished and primered. Before that though, I'll be needing to make the various brackets for the inboard end.
