Brief Description:  Match drill leading edge, fit tank

Actually, I guess Jackie should be writing this log entry as she did the most work! I showed her how to match drill the leading edge and away she went... :-) Meanwhile, I decided to start looking at fitting the tank which was pre-built by Evans Aviation. All was well, but I noticed that the inboard most Z-bracket was not quite in the center of the holes. I took some photos and fired them off to Vans just to make sure all is well, but I'm sure it will be. I was worried that the rivet holes of the angled nutplates 'missed' the Z-bracket entirely, and had visions of having to remove the Z-bracket, make a new one, etc, etc. DUH! Then it occurred to me that the nutplate is on the *aft* side of the spar, and not on the Z-bracket at all - yep a truly blonde moment, to coin a phrase. Anyway I was still concerned with edge distance issues, if any, so decided to do the prudent thing and ask before proceeding to make metal shavings. I'll be left with 1/4" between the edge of the Z-bracket and the centre of the 3/16" holes. I think it will be ok, but Vans will let me know and I'll go from there. So basically, no other progress tonight. In fact, it probably took longer to get photos, email Vans, and make this log entry than it did for me to trial fit the tank and then worry about it! :-)
