I had notification from Vans today that my wing kit ships tomorrow by sea and expected transit time is almost 4 weeks. Shipment arrives in Hamilton around 15 Feb, all being well. So I have a month to kill. Arse. Anyway, spent a bit of time making some countersink templates for the wing spar nutplates. I took the angle of the nutplate from the RV-7 wing spar of a local builder, Phil, and used a nutplate drilling jig to create the countersink template. I made a few, one for me, one for the other guy, and a spare. These are made out of 20mm x 3mm steel bar. I have one with the nutplate straight along, rather than at an angle, but another friend took that to see if he can scrounge me a piece of ST-ST from work. I'm probably going to spend some time at the weekends over the next few weeks helping Phil, since his RV-7 wings are the same as mine and he's just about to start them. I got nothing else to do, so might as well see how the things come together...
