Brief Description:  Fitting the canopy

Apologies in advance for the multiple posts and seemingly identical photos, but other pressures on my time necessitate working slowly on the canopy fitting, and I intend to photo-document every little step as I go.

Last night we marked a line on the front of the canopy for our first trim cut. As with the aft of the canopy it isn't nearly enough and I'll need to take off a lot more. Even so, I intend to proceed at no more than ΒΌ" at a time. I can easily remove material as required, but its a real pain the ass trying to put it back on there! This way I can approach the final trim slowly and hopefully avoid overstepping the mark, so to speak. For these smaller, more critical cuts, I am using a cutting wheel on the dremel, rather than the Vans-supplied cutting wheel on the air drill. Much easier to control, but also creates much finer 'dust' which seems able to work into my enclosed goggles (but thankfully not into the respirator).

After this first front trim, we marked the next trim line at the front. I think I shall 'wobble' the canopy into position by alternating front and back and doing the sides on an 'as required' basis. Tomorrow night I'll trim the front and then take another look at the back again. Slowly slowly catchy monkey, and all that...
