Since I have nothing to do, and I needed a little more space, I probably spent around 6 or so hours over the previous week or two making a soundproof box to house the compressor outside of the workshop. It gives me more space and makes things a little neater, not to mention quieter! The box is made of 4x2 and 9mm ply and painted. The insides are lined with sound-absorbing foam. At each end is a vent to allow air flow. The power cord and the air hose run through a rubber gasket in the rear, through a similar rubber gasket in the external wall and finally through a third gasket into the workshop itself. The power cord is plugged into an RCD outlet and the air hose into a water trap/regulator. Since I have mini-regulators on all my air tools I have set the regulator to 100psi and I shall leave it at that until I determine a better setting (if there is one).
