Didn't get my .040 today, so did some more glasswork and stuff. The two reinforcing strips were a little short and didn't capture the end-most rivet of the nutplate at each end. To solve this I have built up layers of glass cloth around the end of the strip to the same level, and then placed a couple of larger pieces over the whole lot. This provides an equal level for the nutplate to sit on *and* completely captures the end of the reinforcing strip so it won't lift. Next up, I also replaced some glass at the very front of the nav/strobe light mounting plate where, again, I had a nutplate rivet edge-distance issue. I also drilled & countersunk for the nutplates on one side. Once all the glasswork has been done I'm going to re-prime the reinforcing plates in place since sanding the excess adhesive has removed some of the rattlecan primer. Once that is all done, then I can install all the nutplates. Lastly, the outside trailing edge of the wing tip will need to be filled and shaped.
