Brief Description:  Right wing tip (rib)

Tonight I countersunk the fibreglass wing tip for the tip rib has riveted it in place with the -4 rivets. Once that was done, I tackled the fibreglass. I had inadvertently cut away too much when trimming the wing tip around the outboard aileron hinge bracket area, and left myself with poor edge distance on some of the rivets. What you can see in the picture is my attempt (yet to be proven) to replace the glass! I have laid several layers of fibreglass to build up the bit that I cut away and the top three or four overlap the original fibreglass tip *and* a bit of the rib flange as well. I'll leave this to set until tomorrow evening and then remove the clamps and check. It'll either work, or not! :-) If it worked out ok, then I'll be able to do the other side. After that I can continue with drilling the wing tip for nutplates and screws (when they arrive from ACS). I will be backing up the fibreglass with thin aluminium strip, just like with the empennage. The manual says not to worry about it when using screws and nutplates, but I'd rather spread the load a little more. This is especially true of those two areas I've had to build up with extra glass.
