Brief Description:  Aileron pushrods (W-816)

I made up the W-816 control stick to aileron bellcrank pushrods this evening. To get the right rivet spacing on the ends of the pushrods, first I used a protractor on one of the VA-111 aluminium end caps to mark out the 60 degree rivet spacings. Then I transferred these marks to a piece of masking tape. Finally, I wrapped the tape around the end of the pushrod tube and marked the locations on the tube. Actually, the tube is a slightly larger diameter than the end caps so I had to adjust my spacing a little, but that was easy enough. After that it was just a drill and pop rivet job. After the VA-111 end caps were fitted, I mixed up some primer, taped one end up, poured the primer in, and then taped up the other end. A good swill around, removed the tape and then taped them up in a box with the ends of the floor to drain and dry while I took Chester for a walk. I haven't yet set the overall length between the rod-ends, nor have I primered the outside. Partly because I decided to wait, and partly because I've almost run out of primer and don't want to have to spend $275 on more until the fuselage kit arrives!! Nonetheless, job done.
