Brief Description:  Wing stand

Cut out the doubler for the leading edge end of the wing stand and fitted it. Jackie picked up some scrap carpet on her way home from work. Its big enough to replace the one on the work table, transfer that bit to the floor, and ditch the piece that *was* on the floor. It was also big enough to cut two strips for each end of the wing stand, so having done the leading edge end we moved the wing into the stand. We weren't sure whether to do that or leave it on the bench while we finish riveting the skins on, but we think it will be easier in the stand since we won't have to try and lean over the work table from the 'wrong' side. With the wing in the stand I cut some blocks for the spar end and screwed them in place so the spar can't move sideways. This too was then lined with carpet to protect the spar. All in all, I'm very pleased with the wing stand. I'm also going to clamp the spar end with another carpet block on top and long screws threw the spar holes (I'll have some plastic hose in the holes to avoid damaging the spar. That way the spar won't be able to move backwards or forwards either. Why bother you ask? Well, once the wings are completely done they will be shipped to another location for storage while I build the fuselage, and I intend to transport them in the stand so the more secure I can make it, the better. I'll post some pictures of the stand over the weekend if I get a chance, but I have been asked to skydive both days so it might not happen.
