Brief Description:  Main wing skins, leading edge (left wing)

Gonna have to make three log entries for today to get all the pictures included! Made some good progress. First I match drilled the top and bottom main wing skins (left wing still). You can see the pattern I drilled by the marker pen; this helps me keep track of how far I've got in case I get interrupted by anything. Every time I did one panel (i.e. all the holes around two ribs) it got a tick. This job alone took just under two hours; phew! Once that was done, I decided to fit the Evans Aviation pitot tube before starting the leading edge (see additional log entry). Finally, it was time to fit the leading edge and the W-423 joint plate; what a bear that was!! Since it was 7:30pm on a Sunday night (and dark, now we're heading for winter) I decided to call it a day after drilling the joint plate in place. My compressor is pretty noisy and I took pity on my neighbours since I had been at it, on and off, pretty much all day. I have to work late installing a tape drive and an ISA2004 firewall appliance for one of my customers tomorrow night, so the next chance I get to work on the plane will probably be Tuesday evening. First job will be to match drill the leading edge assembly, open out the tiedown hole, and then see about fitting the fuel tank; that'll be fun: I had the tanks built for me by Evans Aviation, so I have to sort out those Z-brackets and make sure I get everything lined up right. Once fitted and then removed again I also need to comply with that damn service bulletin; arse...
