Brief Description:  ammeter

the following series of entries are meant to show the cal proceedures I used to convert an old CDI , center zero meter, into a ampmeter small enough to fit my space. I had to design, build and test/cal a shunt, the loittle curled up piese of brazing rod (brass) used as a very low value resistor, .003 ohm, maybe?? Looking closely there is a small red wire used as the adjustable tap to give the 0-05ma meter movement the proper voltage to correspont to the ammeter in the background

10 zero cal point

2) -8.7 amp. meter shown slightly less that 10 amp on the scale

3) +8.6 amp. meter showing positive just less that 10 amp.

these readings on the small meter are not intended to be + or - 5% accuracy, but give a good representation of what the direction and relative value of current is at a given time

These three constitute the 'lowscale 'cal check foir the setup.
