Brief Description:  Antenna locations

1---Just another view of the ELT. Looking nice with the color ant all!

2---This is the location of the stainless steel bent whip antenna I will use for the VHF com radio. What you are looking at is the ceramic feedthru assembly, with a temporary screw holding it in place. I took off the actual antenna as I kept running into it with my cheek. Not good for eye protection. I did connect the base reveiver radio to it and tested it for a bit. I did hear what I suspected---sircraft talking to the DFW approach. Works fine, and maybe last long time to boot! At the same time I fired up the vertical fin strobe and listened to the radio to attempt to detect strobe noise. None heard, absolustly nothing other than open squelch. Completely normal!

3---This is the outside view of the ELT antenna, which is also a 1/4 wave long stainless steel whip...not bent! Some other ELT antennas have a much shorter length, but also have to have some other matching device for it to work with minified antenna. I didnt want the device, so I went with a 1/4 wavelength whip. EH, I am a ham operator, so I like antennas!!
