Brief Description:  toe in

1) the overall view of the set up for setting the toe in prior to drilling more tugg stuff

" measure the center distance over the axel, side to side. measure...carefully... between the rulers at the very front to the centerline of the aircraft. do some trig and convert to an angle using that new fangled calculator on your ipad or something or other.me?...I just did it in my head with a calculator.. the result is the toe in or toe out for that axel/wheel assembly. do the same on the LH side, and adjust for the same angle"

It took me many try and errors to get to a place I could live with. then its drill baby drill!

Well, something moved by the time I bolted things up and measured again. LH was pretty much OK..maybe close to .9 deg. spec is .7 deg. again, no watch making here. should be fine.

The RH was another story. it was at 3.4deg...way out. so I had to adjust the hole in the axel a bit by elongating it to the proper place and remeasuring...looking for .9 to match the LH side. got that done, and welded a couple of thick washers over the now elongated 'bad' holes, but in the 'good' position. repainted and reinstalled. retested again, and bingo... .9 deg. or at least less that one degree. As a lot of wags said when I was working at GE...'good enough'!!
