Brief Description:  construction techniques

Image one this little jig is a pipe dream I had ont night lying awake in bed wondering how I was going to get the danged bolt perfectly square with the end of the tubing so I could weld it. I am sure someone has a better idea, but I could not find it unles I we3nt into some manufacturers shop and got enlightened. But, being a homebuilder, this is what I came up with.On the lef end is a tube just larget than the pushrod diameter. you see the end poking out with the slots cut in the end that reduce the inner diameter to the head size of the bolt. On the right is a carefully constructed and mounted other piece of tube just big enough to acdcept the bolt the screws and nuts welded on the top were intende3d to holt things still, but were not really needed.I found by spinning the pushrod with the bolt inserted into it, a self centering action could happen. and since both the left and right sides were coaxial, the bolt is not held in place, centered along the long axis fof the pushrod tube. Plans do require the bolt head to be welded half way down, as shown. Over all this jig worked fantastically and that 'dream' I had sure did the trick!

Image two this simply shows how I cut the curved tube to have a gentle joint onto the rodend flat plate, again per the plans. thats the old hande dremmil tool again.
