1) Showing what I did to remove extra thread length. Not so pretty. I am not a cylinder rewory expert!!
2) Anothe cylinder looks a bit better.
3) I have opted for a capilary tube temp gauge for the oil, and chose this port for that the Al block used was needed to support the adapter, which in turn was needed to instal the bulb for the gauge. made from 3/4 in Al I had frome someplace else!
