Brief Description:  Standard Wing Access Panels 1

I measured up the Avipro wing access panels, and reverse engineered them to get what I think is the best fit possible. There isn't a lot of extra metal on the rings, so the center-edge (CE) distance gets a little skimpy. Basically, I came up with a 0.23 inch CE distance from the inner aspect of the ring to the screw holes. The ring rivet line ended up having a 0.2 inch CE distance from the outer ring edge. I used rivet spacing of 1 inch. I used one-lug nutplates on the corners, rather than two-lug nutplates set at 45 deg angles, so that if the nutplate ever became stripped, I wouldn't have to drill out the entire ring in order to replace the nutplate. I made all rings for both wings. To fit the rings to the hole, I placed the panel itself on the backside of the ring, centered the panel in the wing hole, and drilled the ring rivet holes. Once the holes were drilled, I deburred and dimpled them, and riveted the most outboard on after installing the nutplates. I didn't install two of the rings, as I will need to buck rivets through two of the holes, and I wanted as much room as possible to do that. I can rivet the rings easily from below using a squeezer once the riveting is done.
