Brief Description:  Wingtips 5 - Edge Stiffening With Graphite Laminat

I was unhappy with the amount of scalloping of the wingtips, so I decided to stiffen the inner edges with a 1.5 inch x .015 inch strip of graphite. This also has the effect of also making the inner circumerence smaller, which will tighten up the edges as well. I laminated one layer each into the lower and upper inner surface with epoxy resin after pre-abrading with 60 grit sandpaper, and covered it with a strip of peel ply, which has the effect of smoothing out the exposed surface. I only did one half of each wingtip at a time so I didn't have to worry about gravity pulling the strip away while the resin hardened. I then redrilled the screw holes, and reinstalled the tips. Definitely a tighter fit and much less scalloping.
