Brief Description:  Oil Cooler Air Valve

Avery Tools came out with a nifty butterfly valve to fit on the RV-10 oil cooler bracket, which I'm using. I've noticed that at least one Bearhawk owner has had to restrict air through the engine baffle oil cooler outlet, and is currently experimenting with the proper restriction in order to balance Oil Temperatue versus the left aft Cylinder Head Temperatures. This valve should accomplish this in flight, and be infinitely adjustable, as well. I replaced the cheap plastic bushings on the butterfly shaft with Teflon ones from McMaster's, and struggled long and hard as to where to put yet another control. I ended up using an unconventional location, which is in proximity to the cowl flap control, as it has a related function, but is somewhat unobtrusive, as I don't think this control will have to changed very much, once the proper setting is achieved. I had to take down the firewall penetration seal, and reaccomplish same, in order to pass the cable. The bracket was made out of .060 inch 6061 and has nutplates and was powder-coated silver. I made the "Oil Cooler Air" decal, but it has to set for 12 hours before applying it. I applied a protective layer of Hi-Temp RTV on the SCAT tubing where it seems possible vibration might result in chaffing.
