I bought my engine from Bob Barrows, and asked for new cylinders, which turned out to be ECI Titan cylinders. Unfortunately, certain serial numbers are subject to an ECI Service Instruction SI 08-1 which came out in Apr 08 involving cylinder cracks, and the SI provides the basis for a proposed AD (NPRM). As it turns out, 5 out of 6 of my cylinders are in "Group A", and are required to undergo compression checks every 50 hours after 350 hours are put on them. If any cylinder is under 70/80, a soap bubble test is required. That doesn't sound like much fun to me, but fortunately, ECI will swap out my cylinders, but unfortunately, won't pay for laber to have this done. Accordingly, I removed 5 out 6 cylinders, and will fly them down to New Braunfels, TX where ECI has a satellite operation and swap them out, hopefully this week.
