Brief Description:  Carburetor Mounting

The Van's Aircraft VA-149-360-PC throttle and mixture control mount is fairly "bendy", and I was concerned that it would quickly succumb to engine vibration. There are two 1/4-20 threaded bolt holes on 3 inch centers on the oil pan/intake manifold located towards the aft end of the control mount that I exploited by riveting an inner .040 4130 doubler on the control mount to an outer .050 4130 tab so as to provide additional support. A bent tab provides support for the oil heater cord, as well. Stainless steel pop rivets were used to secure the pieces together. Finally, the carb air temperature probe for the AFS was mounted onto the carburetor, which was secured to the oil pan/manifold with nuts, lockwashers, locktite and PAL nuts.
