Brief Description:  Carb Air Box1

I cutout the bottom of the cowl skin after provisionally fitting the carburetor and placed the carb air box recommended by Avipro; as supplied by AC Spruce, it requires modification, described as "minor", in the BH fuselage assembly manual. Basically, there are two problems. First, there is impingement of the carb heat cable support against the skin, which can probably be solved by making the carb hole larger. The second problem is that the carb heat inlet is located on the side - there isn't enough room in the carb air tunnel for a side entry. Looking at the Peter Stevens builder pictures on the bearhawk aircraft web site showed an aft inlet to the carb air tunnel. Accordingly, I cut off the inlet with a bandsaw, and drilled out a 2 inch hole using a hole saw in the aft end. I welded the cut off inlet into the hole created, and welded a .025 in 4130 patch onto the old inlet hole, using skp welds. There were also a couple areas where the spot welds had punched through, which I filled in with welds.
