I continued the process of making small pieces of aluminum out of larger ones. The AFS temperature probe comes with a 1/4-28 steel nut for mounting but that seemed a bit crude. I decided to fabricate basically a rivetable nut out of two layers of .063 inch 2024-T3 riveted with two rivets, tapped to accept the 1/4x28 temp probe. A 3/16 inch aluminum washer was drilled out to fit the 1/4 inch probe and this was added with a 1/4 inch internal washer to act as a spacer so the minimum width only of the probe was protruding. The probe was mounted 1.75 inches forward and on the inboard line of the flap assist spring access panel. A duplicate mount was made for the other side.
