I wanted a means to both increase the restriction of the heater outlet so as to both increase the defroster flow and also to increase the velocity of the heated air stream so it could be directed further aft. In addition, some means of controlling direction would be helpful. I mulled over creating a diffuser with those elements, but after noodling it for awhile, it became apparent that it would require fairly precise sheet metal cuts such as using a waterjet. I then happened upon an Aveo Air Maxi valve, which meets most of those criteria, and didn't require any fancy work. It was necessary to trim the flange down on a lathe to fit within the 2 inch heat/defrost manifold, but that was relatively easy. The slightly increased restriction, when wide open, enhanced defroster flow, and it is capable of being directed or even further restricted, which will force more air through the defroster, if needed.
