I made a fiberglass cone by wrapping 3-ply around a styrofoam flower cone bought at Hobby Lobby which was covered with electrician's tape and carnuba wax as a release agent. After the epoxy set, I removed the foam. I mounted the infrared camera within the fairing using 6 each screw holes. I applied a 1/16 inch gasket to the ring around the camera lens and fit the cone into the front end of the fairing after grinding out a hole in both the fairing and the end of the cone. I fiberglassed the cone in place outside first, then the inside, and then cut the redundant external cone off, and sanded the fairing. I applied a coat of microballons and epoxy slurry, and smoothed the fairing by sanding, followed by sandable primer, followed by rattle can Ford Light Grey enamal.
