Brief Description: Aileron and Flap Hinges 1
|
|
The original Avipro aileron and flap hinges had some deviations from contour from the plans, and when I tried to drill the hinge holes, I found I couldn't maintain a consistent location when measured off the edges. I ordered a set of the newer hinges from Avipro, and although the hinge bearing holes are very consistent, I was a little disappointed with the center-edge distance on the mounting holes. Nevertheless, given the thick nature of the brackets, I don't think that will be an issue. All holes were drilled 1/64 under and reamed up to the appropriate size, which turns out to be 1/4 inch for the bearing holes and 3/16 for the mounting holes. After chamfering, deburring, and wire brushing, I primed the brackets with Stits White Epoxy primer.
