I fabricated a bulkhead clamp for the Tuthill friction lock cowl flap cable using a -6 steel bulkhead union. A nut, steel sleeve and brass compression sleeve are used on one end after cutting off a portion of the male flare, and countersinking to 120 deg. The nut portion of the union was drilled and tapped for two 10-32 set screws, and the other end was shortened to the minimal amount needed to save weight. This construction should allow rigid fixation of the cable and provide fire protection, as well.
