In view of Eric Newton's and Russ Erb's experience with fuel flow with a fuel flow transducer, it seemed prudent to incorporate an electric fuel pump and check valve in the aircraft - easier done now than later. A check valve is needed as the fuel pump provides considerable obstruction to flow when not energized. This construct was the most compact version I could come up with, although others might be able to come up with a better idea. I tack welded the .032 4130 bracket using MIG as that process puts out less heat allowing me to leave the tubing in place (covered by sopping wet towels) in order to optimize fit. I then gas welded the intervals after removing components likely to be damaged by the heat. I put nutplates in the fuel pump and 10-32 screws will engage the pump by going through the floorboard and bracket. Of course, priming and painting is now needed but I'll wait until just before I start fabric, as I'm sure I'll come up with a couple more welds to paint before then. I also need to put a tee and fuel pump pressure sensor in-line after the fuel flow transducer (the gold FT-90 cube seen in Image 2), but I'm waiting for parts.
