Utilizing previously welded on tabs, I fabricated .025 Aluminum panels to fit below the instrument panel cowl in order to mount miscellaneous items such as circuit boards, encoders, etc. I made one of .020 2024-T3, but it was too bendy, and would definitely require stiffeners. The slightly thicker .025 seemed just about right.
