Brief Description:  Gascolator Leak

I'd hoped to make a first flight today, but awoke to 30 knot winds. As I wandered around the hangar, I discovered some drips under the gascolator. I'd previously found a few and tightened the couplings, and that appeared to have stopped the dripping. Apparently, the leakage was just pooling up somewhere, and working its way down. I spent some time with a mirror and flashlight and determined that the outlet plug was leaking. Unfortunately, the gascolator is under the very first floorboard to be installed. It was necessary to remove the seats and a lot of screws to enable maneuvering the floorboard enough so as to gain barely adequate acess. On top of that, I'd simply secured the gascolator with nuts on the bolts which required ambidextrous Houdini-like skills to get the unit out without the floorboard completely removed. After finally removing the gascolator, I checked out the brass plug, which just wasn't going to seal. I had another one though and applied thread sealant, and this time, pressure checked the fttings with soapy water (which I should have done in the first place). I also found some 10-32 mini crowsfoot nutplates that would fit, and drilled and riveted them so installation and removal will be much easier in the future. I reinstalled the floorboards and seats.
