Brief Description:  Engine Cowl Final Assembly

I reinstalled the cowling and cooling plenum. The plenum, which uses locking nutplates, was tightened such that after the screws bottomed out, nylon washers were used and the screws were backed out 1/2 turn to allow for micromotion between the individual cylinders. Although everything had been on before, the entire thing had been disassembled for painting. So, the cowl flaps had to be adjusted to close and open equally as well as fully on both sides. Linkages were lubricated. All the screws were engaged only until the bevel of the dimple engaged the screw until all the screws were in place, and the Southco fasteners were installed. Interestingly enough, even though I had carefully recorded which length of Southco fastener went where, many had to be "upsized" for some reason. After the Southco's were finalized, I tightened all the screws. Finally, I installed the air intake plenum.
