Brief Description:  Baggage Compartment Panels

I wanted to provide some protection to the fuselage fabric from errant baggage, and decided to line the lower part of the compartment with 1/8 inch birch plywood. I found my shear works reasonably well to cut the plywood in a straight line. I coated the inner surface of the plywood with 2 coats and the outer surface with three coats of polyurethane, and lined the exposed edges with aluminum channel. The cutouts are for access to the headphone jacks. The rudder cable protectors clamp the panels at their base. A bracket was fabricated to secure the left aft panel to the aft baggage compartment panel. Rivnuts were secured to Adel clamps, which in turn were provisionally clamped to support tubing with short lengths of safety wire.
