Brief Description:  Auxilary Fuselage Fuel Tank Selector

I've been thinking that it might not be a bad idea to have a provision for some fuselage fuel in the baggage compartment for those long, long non stop flights. It's certainly easier to put this in now rather than later. I decided to put a Moeller Marine Products P/N 33302-10 three-valve between the left wing tanks and the fuel selector valve, and plumbed the valve so that the fuel selector will either see fuel from the wing tanks or the aft baggage compartment tank. Because the aft auxiliary tank will be only slightly higher than the carburetor, it will be necessary to run the auxiliary fuel pump during fuselage fuel tank use.
The sequence of operation, assuming the hose from the fuel tank is plugged into the quick-disconnect, is selected the right fuel tank, setting the left fuel source selector to "aux", turning on the aux fuel pump on, and set the fuel selector to left.
I deep tapped the pipe fitting on the bottom port of the three-way valve so the fuel fitting would fit in higher, avoiding clearance issues, and placed nutplates under the valve.
Male and female 3000-series Jiffy Quick DIsconnect, available from Pegasus Racing, were used and have the feature of not leaking when disconnected. In order to figure out the plumbing, I made a provisional floorboard template, matched to some holes on the floorboard, which allowed me to make the connections under direct vision, which would have been very difficult using the floorboard. Once I'd finalized the connections and cut-out for the quick disconnect, I transferred the holes to the floorboard. I also made a laser decal, put it on a bit of aluminum, and covered it with Krylon 1311 Matte, and secured it to the floorboard with a pair of #4 sheet metal screws.
I plan on using a Summit Racing 20 gallon aluminum fuel tank http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-293220/
This should give me about 20/13 = 1.5 hours of additional cruise at 75% power, or160*1.5 = 240 statue miles.
