Brief Description:  Fuel Tank Mounting and Nipples 3

I used a knockout punch to make the rib cutout for the aux fuel vent line. The cutout for the aux fuel outlet impinges with the most forward vertical rib stiffener. I removed the stiffener and fabricated a new one out of thicker .032 2024-T3 and curved it forward using a stretcher. Because the hole will weaken the area where the stiffener was previously located, I made an additional doubler on the fuel bay side which picks up the previous stiffener holes as well. In addition, the rib needed to be relieved to allow access for the fuel tank sender, when the tank is installed and removed. I routed that out with a grinder and made a 90 deg stiffener to provide the structural support on the opposite side of the relief area. I match-drilled the access panel to match the two holes for the 6-32 nutplates which will be placed at the corners of the relief area.
