I started with the tailcone fairing. I already had trimmed the two parts to the scribeline. I started with the tabs but didn't like the alignment with the tabs holding the parts. I then tried two "backplates" from alluminium .025 and that worked much better. Initial fit is done and the two upper holes attaching the tailcone to the fuselage are drilled (used an #30 extension drill instead of the #40 mentioned in the plans).
