Brief Description:  Rudder cable fairings

I fabricated fairings for the rudder cables where they go through the fabric on the empennage. I used a template I made before I put the fabric on the fuselage to locate the proper place to cut the holes in the fabric for the rudder cables. I glued reinforcement doilies on the inside of the fuselage fabric and cut them out to match the holes in the fabric. I attached the rudder and ran the control cables to make sure the cables were not touching the fabric through the range of rudder operation. Using a technique I saw on an EAA Hints For Homebuilders, I made a male mold from foam insulation and laid up the fiberglass fairings. After trimming the fairings I glued them to the fabric and covered them with fabric doilies.
