The wing tips have a large gap next to the aileron. The forward end of the gap would have been covered by the wing trailing edge material had I not trimmed it even with the rip cap as instructed by the build manual. Had I to do it over, I would have left the trailing edge material untrimmed by about 1 ½ inches and trimmed it off while I was installing the wing tips. That still would have left a gap on the side of the wing tip next to the aileron. The manual says to use ¼ inch plywood secured with adhesive and rivet shanks to cover this opening.
I decided to use balsa wood cut to fill both gaps. I’ll seal the balsa wood with a couple of coats of fiberglass resin and then install it with fiberglass resin and one layer of fiberglass cloth on the exposed side. This would have been a lot easier if I had a band saw. I had to cut these out with hand saws and finish them with the bench sander and then hand sanding. It took a while but they came out pretty nice. Each of the fillets weigh ¼ ounce, without fiberglass.
