Brief Description: Set up paint booth, sprayed left horz stab & eleva
I’ve been making preperations to start painting for the last couple of weeks. I built a paint booth in my garage. I set up ventilation using two box fans that are framed with 2x2’s. The framed panels fit under the garage door, are held in place with clamps and easily removable. I used four paper furnace fans to filter the incoming air.
I borrowed a Citation four stage turbine sprayer and made a remote on/off switch so I can control the sprayer from inside the paint booth.
Today I sprayed for the first time. It took me a while to set up the spray gun. Stewart’s suggests using the shiny side of butcher paper for test spray and adjustment of the gun. The butcher paper worked well. I had a lot of orange peel but finally got the gun set up properly. I started with bottom of the left horizontal stabilizer and elevator. That way if I screwed it up it wouldn’t show. I got an acceptable finish with two cross coats of Ecofill so I painted the top sides as well.
