Brief Description: Tank Cleanup
Worked this weekend on cleaning up the tank, and making sure things were ready for baffle install. Still not sure I'm quite there yet. Actually, I must still cover the fuel port on the second rib, as per second-hand information from Van's. Supposedly closing that hole might help keep fuel flowing during knife-edge flight. Geez, I can't even imagine that. I'll be lucky to pull off a steep-turn, let alone knife-edge.
So I cut a piece of aluminum using my hole cutter, but that was a dumb move...not considering the drill bit guide hole in the middle of the disc. I then used a regular hole-cutter to cut a patch for that hole, and riveted that to the middle. Should end up being a very fancy patch...haha. I could go back and clean it up, but I will continue down this path to remind myself to think ahead, and not be so stupid.
Have been doing a ton of research on how to close the tank. Very scary! As with most things on this adventure, you must jump in there and "just do it." I will do so this coming weekend. ;-)
