Brief Description:  Left Elevator: Riveting Internals

Getting back to basics here and started riveting the internals of the Left Elevator. Feels good to start making progress again. Waited WAY too long on the Trim Tab and Elevator flap bending. Decided not to bend anything so I cut off the tabs and am waiting for three E-703's to arrive. I'll then make three small ribs to close off the Elevatorand and Tab Ends.

Tonight I basically organized some spare parts around the hangar, put everything back where it was prior to moving some of the work to my garage, and completed one step in the instructions by riveting E-703 and E-704 together. Nothing too difficult, but did have to bang the rivets instead of using the squeezer. I need to buy the longeron yoke for the squeezer in order to do rivets like these.

As you can see in the pics, I C-Clamped the assembly to the workbench lightly, cleco'd everything together, and drove the rivets together. Only screwed up one rivet which I put in backwards for some reason. Must be tired. Drilled out and replaced without a problem. I then shot some Zinc Chromate over the rivets to cover. Overall a very good night!
