Finally....finished with the Spars. Have been very busy this last month running back and forth to Ohio every weekend for family commitments up there. Was a lot of fun, but now it's time to get back to building!
I was almost done with the rear spars when a friend came over and pointed out a few rivets that were installed too soon. The plans showed those rivets coming along much later. He helped me out by driving them out for me, and then I set in to install the remaining. With that accomplished, the next phase involves prepping all the ribs.
I took all the ribs home last week and will start in on those tonight or tomorrow. There's quite a few, and I believe there's around seven different types. Sounds like a long, tedious process but at least it's something I can do at home in my garage.
On a side note, I returned from Groton, CT in my Piper only to find the exhaust manifold had started to separate at one of the cylinders. Several studs, a couple of helicoils, and some new hardware later I think it's good to go. My mechanic will inspect and hopefully sign that job off soon.
Squeezing some rivets...
Done with Aft Spars! Yay!!
Good thing I noticed the tape under the stiffener!
