Brief Description: Elevator Rework & Electric Trim Mounting
Catchup Sunday:
- Flew with Jeremy for 1.2 hours up to Winchester & back. Practiced x-wind touch and go's along with ground ref. maneuvers. Wind gusting to 20 kts made for some interesting landings.
- Finished up E-705 and E-606PP. Match drilled and dimpled. Countersunk the top-side of 606PP. Lesson learned there is to countersink by hand using the speed-drill. Tried the drill press and the hand-held drill but did not have the control to make a consistent countersink. Used a pre-drilled piece of wood behind each countersink to keep the bit centered in hole.
- Mounted the Electric Trim Motor on the mounting plate. Found dimensions on the drawing were off by approx one-eight inch. Ended up centering the elevator shaft in the middle of the notch. then clamped everything down and drilled the holes through the mounting plate. See pic 3 below.
Overall a great aviation day! Ended the night when I ran out of kerosene for the heater. Temps down to 11 degrees tonight so it was a bit chilly.
Going on travel Monday and Tuesday so will pick things up on Wednesday evening.
