Well, after a 33 day excursion to visit Afghanistan and the boys and girls of the 101st Aviation Brigade, I finally got home to get some work done.
Skinning turned out to be quite a bit tougher than the horizontal stabilizer. It turns out that one of my measurements was off 9/64" on the bottom rib which caused the skin to be quite a ......... challenge. With a lot of coaxing I was able to make up most of the difference on the right side, but there is still an ugly gap on the trailing spar. It's not a structural problem, just ugly, shoddy work. But it should fly just fine. No Lindy awards for me if I ever get this thing to Oshkosh.
Left side. Not sure if I want to show anyone the right side gap.
Emmett and Estelle were visiting for Thanksgiving and I got him to lend a hand clecoiong and riveting.
The reason for the delay. On an observation tower at FOB Salerno, eastern AFG with TF No Mercy.
