More lessons learned from other builders. The design of the fuel filler allows spilled fuel during refueling to simply fall into the cockpit. For me and many other builders that's unacceptable. The fix is a simple piece of sheet metal cut and bent to fit over the filler neck and around the vent fitting. I fabricated this one fairly quickly although it takes some trimming to get it to fit just right. It will need to be sealed with RTV or ProSeal to keep it from leaking but it will prevent minor spills from falling straight into the cockpit.
