Brief Description:  Cockpit details

Started the day with painting the NACA vent inlets an aluminum color. Still undecided on what method to use to mount them: RTV, rivet, or RTV with rivets.

Moved on the mounting the flap detent. Since I'm planning to use the Dial-a-Trim from AeroConversions I'm not installing the trim handle. Once I got this drilled, primed and bolted in place I moved on to locating the throttle/mixture control and the instrument panel. I'm building my panel to be vertical rather than angled as called for in the plans. I still haven't figured out the best method to do this. One ide is to simply place the mounts upside down and the bolt the panel on using nutplates. This keeps the panel vertical and provides an almost 2 inch drop. The drop is not a problem once I'm in the seat, but as I get in and out of the plane my shins are bumping into it. I may have to reduce the drop some to ease entry in and out.

I also don't like the mixture on the Aeroconversions throttle. The plate is so close to the throttle plate that my fingers are pinched when I try to grab and move the mixture. I might move it to the panel. Just not sure. Decisions, decisions.

So to put off those decisions a little longer, I made the flap and brake handles. Used plasti-dip to make the grips on the handles, red for brakes, black for flaps.
