Brief Description: Oil Cooler and Engine Baffles - Part 7.
I finally got to the point I could actually bolt the cooler on the plenum frame and cleco it in place on the aft side of the engine baffle. I removed a small portion of the inboard upper cooler mounting flange to accommodate the engine mount (required even with the smaller Van's stock cooler) and confirmed this might actually work. The only potential issue is the smaller than desired gap between the engine mount and cooler. I'm thinking that the way the cooler will move during engine start and more importantly when the engine shuts down (swings on a huge arc) will mean the spacing I have will prove adequate. I will wrap the engine mount adjacent to the cooler with some thick flap tape and monitor it closely for signs of interference.
