Brief Description: Countersink tank skin platenuts to wing spar.
I started the tedious process of countersinking the fuel tank skin nutplates into the main wing spar. I used masking tape to prevent metal shavings from falling into the groove in the spar edge. Removing the tape left behind some residue so I used a heat gun on low held a couple of inches away as I pulled the tape away which solved the problem. I plan on following Vans' procedure which is to rivet the nutplates in place first and then use the screw hole as a pilot hole to countersink the hole for the #8 screws (and #6 screws for the inspection plates).
